  Moral Injury: A Trauma of Being

Present by Leslie Mulligan, MS, EdS, LCPC, NCC, DCC

 

A discussion about the causes, effects, treatments and outcomes of Moral Injury to both military and civilian sufferers and mental health providers, family, community and nation.


Presenter Bio: Leslie Mulligan, MS, EdS, LCPC, NCC, DCC, an Air Force strategic intelligence officer (achieved rank of Captain) 1987-1992, and civilian strategic intelligence analyst for the Air Force 1992-1993. Leslie determined need for mental health treatment for service members and began studying to become a mental health therapist in Georgia in 1997. Earned both an M.S and an Ed.S masters degrees in Mental Health Counseling from Florida State University, and is Licensed as an LCPC in Maine, (Lic # CC3059).

Leslie has worked with those suffering from major mental illness and trauma since 1999, with the military since 2010, and at the VA, treating combat veterans and veterans suffering from Military Sexual Trauma since 2014. Currently working at the Greensboro Vet Center (Federal facility allows out-of-state licensure), Moral Injury is found in 80% of the veterans she sees from all war eras.
