Ethical and Legal Issues for Counselors in North Carolina

Description: This workshop will provide an overview and refresher of the ACA Code of Ethics, guiding ethical principles, and ethical decision-making processes for LPCs in North Carolina. The content will emphasize (1) considerations for confidentiality , (2) boundaries within the counseling relationship, and (3) discussion of special and current ethical topics for counseling practitioners. The format will include presentation, problem-based case studies and both large and small group discussion. This workshop meets criteria for the 3-hr continuing education credit for “ethics” requirement.

About the Presenter: Dr. Kathleen Connolly is the owner of Acumeans Counseling and Consulting in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Connolly holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in psychology, human services, counseling and counselor education. She has worked with a broad array of clients including adults, adolescents, children, and families. Dr. Connolly is a professional affiliate member of the graduate faculty of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She is a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor, an Approved Clinical Supervisor, and certified in clinical hypnosis.
