Description: Desire differences between partners can often be the fuel that motivates couples to engage in either marital therapy, extramarital behavior or both. Loss of desire may be expressed by one or both partners as "I love my partner, but I am not in love anymore. " The thrill is gone and I can take sex or leave it." It is estimated that sexual desire disorders affect upwards of 20% of the population and is on the rise. In this presentation Rebecca Dnistran, MA will review what desire is, how to ask your clients about their sexual relationship, review gender differences in desire, quantify an intimate encounter using two diagrams, consider the relational factors that enhance desire and outline some recent research on "exceptional sex".

Presenter: Rebecca Hope Dnistran. MA, is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist. She has been practicing in the Triangle since 1997 and specializes in marital therapy and the treatment of sexual dysfunction and enhancement. She along with five other therapists began the Center for Sexual Health. You can find it on the web at www.CenterforSexualHealth.com
