Description:
Mindfulness has been described as a particular way
of paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment,
without judgment. The key component of most meditation
practices, it is a skill that can be developed by
anyone to transform how we experience life. This presentation
will provide an overview of mindfulness, describe
the difference between the "doing" and
"being" modes of mind, examine the multidimensional
phenomenon of pain, and show how mindfulness practices
can be used to transform the experience of pain. Experiential
practices and real-life examples will be used to illustrate
key points in the presentation.
About the Presenter:

in private practice in Durham, NC. She completed her
internship at Duke University Medical Center in 1991
