Description:
Dr. Jackson will offer a "nuts-and-bolts"
approach to the factors that need to be considered
by LPCs who may be thinking of leaving an agency and
beginning their own practice. For LPCs already in
a private practice, there will be useful information
on maximizing relationships with insurance boards,
trends in the field, and a panel discussion on the
future of the profession. For students, new counselors,
and those working in agencies, come to find out more
about this exciting option-, and how it might enhance
your career!
Presenter:
Dr. Jackson left his job working as a parole/ probation
officer to pursue a career in counseling, believing
that he could be more valuable working with people
before they got into trouble, rather than after. Following
a Masters at Campbell University, he did his Doctoral
work at William and Mary, then returned home to Harnett
County. He currently manages a private practice in
Harnett County, as well as works as a counselor (LPC)
and a professor at UNC-Pembroke, where he is helping
guide and educate the next generation of new LPCs
to serve the Carolinas. His gentle nature and passion
for educating and working with counselors is evident
in all that he does, and you can be sure this workshop
will be engaging, fun, and interactive.
RSVP:
If you plan to attend, please contact
Bruce Garris by email
or (910) 297-3551 by Wednesday, May 19, 2010. Please
consider bringing a non-member LPC to hear about our
association! All LPCs and counseling students are
welcome to join us. Our regional meetings are a great
way to stay connected with your professional association,
network with other LPCs in your region, and earn a
CEU.
