Description: Grief is a part of the human experience yet sometimes it may be difficult to distinguish between symptoms of grief and other mental health disorders. This workshop will focus on symptoms of grief as well as treatment and resources available for counselors. In addition, acute and chronic grief also will be mentioned with suggested directions for treatment.

Presenter: Dr. Kathleen Kellum received a Ph.D. in Counselor Education through the University of Iowa in 2009. She is currently working toward her LPC in North Carolina through Hospice in High Point. She worked as a counselor at a private college and high school and had internship experiences at community mental health centers in both Kansas and Iowa. She also currently teaches in mental health counseling through Walden University and has taught graduate mental health counseling at Lindsey Wilson College as well as the University of Iowa. She also has taught undergraduate classes in human services at a community college and other private and public universities over the last 15 years.

RSVP: If you plan to attend, please contact Shannon Warden by email or 252-288-2724 by Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Please consider bringing a non-member LPC to hear about our association! All LPCs and counseling students are welcome to join us. Our regional meetings are a great way to stay connected with your professional association, network with other LPCs in your region, and earn a CEU.
