2017 Annual Conference Prep Day

9:30am - 12:30am (or until finished)

Location TBD - Either Raleigh or Winston-Salem

Join us for Conference Prep Day, when we prepare the attendee badges and totebags for the 2017 Annual Conference. We will begin around 9:30am and end when we are finished - usually no later than 12:30pm, but that depends on how many volunteers we have!

Come when you can and leave when you need to! Last year we had several people come at the beginning and stay a couple of hours, and we had others trickling in and they filled in the spaces.

This is a fun day and a great networking opportunity! If you are not able to attend the conference, it is a great way to still feel a part of it - and if you are attending, it is a great way to gear up for the excitement of conference.  Students - members and non-members - all are welcome!

Bring your colleagues and family members - and your efficiency experts! (Yes, we had one last year and things really went fast after we used his suggestion.) You can even bring your child(ren) who are old enough to help - we usually have some projects that work for middle school age.

Items to Bring:

  • Your enthusiasm and energy!
  • Music - it always helps a project go faster when there is music
  • And boxes - lots of big boxes, like fruit boxes (bananas, etc.) as they hold a large number of filled totebags. Contact Glenna if you can bring boxes - we need approximately 25 boxes - but we don't want 100!
  • Snack and beverage - we usually try to remember to bring water but we don't normally bring snacks. If you like a mid-morning snack, please remember to bring something for yourself.

What to Expect:

  • Some laughs - it is fun! - and some great networking and a chance to meet others in the profession.
  • One group of volunteers will work on the totebags - opening boxes of exhibitor inserts and giveaways and arranging them so one of each item can be inserted into the bags - this is a mostly standing job.
  • Another group will work on separating badges from sheets of six, putting labels onto envelopes, inserting the printed badge into envelopes and inserting ribbons into envelopes - this is a mostly sitting job.

Be sure to indicate if you are volunteering to work in Raleigh or Winston-Salem or both; once we determine where we will do this, we will send a notice to everyone who signed up.
