If you really want to get the most from your dues dollar, get involved. Ask any truly engaged volunteer and you’ll invariably hear “I got more than I gave.”

By volunteering, you can…

There are lots of ways you can get involved with LPCANC and help us bring value your peers and your profession. The time commitment for each varies, but rarely exceeds a few hours per month and some roles can be taken on for however long and whenever convenient for you! Here are just a few areas for your consideration...

Regional Meetings Team - Produce two 1 hour regional meetings per year in each of the association’s regions which help members meet their networking and educational needs and fulfill contact hour requirements.

  • Team Members – Identify topics of interest; set dates; identify & confirm location and presenters; assist with n-site meeting management.
  • Team Leader - Coordinates efforts of team members and shares goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

Professional Development Team - Produce six 3 hour workshops per year which help members meet their networking and educational needs and fulfill contact hour requirements.

  • Team Members – Identify topics of interest; set dates; identify & confirm location and presenters; assist with on-site workshop management.
  • Team Leader - Coordinates efforts of team members and shares goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

Annual Conference Team - Develop program for the LPCANC Annual Conference which helps members meet their networking and educational needs and fulfill contact hour requirements.

  • Team Members - Identify unique/compelling topics/issues; Review proposals; Confirm speakers/panelists; Help develop promotional copy
  • Team Leader - Coordinates efforts of team members and shares goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

News Team - Collects and/or writes informative articles which enhance members’ mental health knowledge via our quarterly newsletter, monthly e-letters and website.

  • News Scouts - Keep an eye out for interesting articles worth sharing.
  • Writers/Editors - Compose and/or edit articles on relevant mental health issues.
  • Team Leader - Develops editorial calendar; coordinates efforts of team members and shares goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

Public Policy/Professional Issues Team – Monitor and, as needed, respond to legislative or regulatory initiatives that may affect LPCs in NC.

  • Team Members – Monitor relevant legislative/regulatory activity in NC as well as reports from AMHCA; work with LPCANC lobbyist to draft responses/reports as appropriate.
  • Team Leader - Coordinates efforts of team members and shares goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

Membership Team - Develop and execute membership recruitment and retention programs to help sustain and grow the association.

  • Team Members - Welcome new members; develop and coordinate new member recruitment programs – 2x per year; periodically review and update membership retention program as needed.
  • Team Leader - Coordinates efforts of team members; helps other team leaders embed membership messages into their respective programs; and shares goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

University Relations Team - Develop and execute student outreach and mentoring programs which help ensure the future of our profession and long term availability of high quality mental health care to the general public.

  • Team Members – Identify and develop relationships with faculty at schools offering counselor training programs in NC; develop and coordinate student member recruitment programs – 2x per year; welcome new students; develop and coordinate mentor programs.
  • Team Leader - Coordinates efforts of team members; works with membership team leader to ensure other team leaders embed student membership messages into their respective programs; and shares goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

Sponsorship Team - Identify and solicit sponsors to help fund member programs and services.

  • Team Members - Identify prospective sponsors; make preliminary contacts; review and update benefit packages.
  • Team Leader - Coordinates efforts of team members and shares goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

Website Team - Update and help maintain content of the LPCANC website to ensure availability of current, high quality counseling information for our members.

  • Team Members - Regularly review LPCANC and related sites; recommend content and/or design updates as needed.
  • Team Leader - Coordinates efforts of team members and shares goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

Volunteer Coordinator – Work with management firm to develop and maintain a comprehensive list of current and prospective volunteers as a well as a system to track, report and recognize their involvement. Work with team leaders to ensure they have the volunteer support needed to achieve their team goals. Share volunteer program goals and progress with LPCANC board and management.

Board of Directors - Plan and coordinate association programs, services and management firm. Meet in person 4-6 times per year; by teleconference 3-4 times per year.

  • Directors - Participate in and/or lead program/project teams; review program/project, membership and financial reports; provide feedback and guidance to officers.
  • Officers - Provide strategic direction to association; coordinate efforts of directors and teams; provide feedback and guidance to management firm to ensure LPCANC brings the greatest possible value to our members and the profession.
