First Friday Webinar

The many faces of Grief and Loss:  looking through the kaleidoscope

Presenter:

Kimberly Werth, MA, LPC, NCC, BC-TMH,  Director of Counseling and Student Development ECU School of Dental Medicine

Abstract:

Grief and loss are an integral part of the human experience and we learn and adapt to it within a framework of our learned coping mechanisms.  Although the experience of grief and loss has similar threads, each of us experiences it in multiple ways, similar to the individual expression of a turning kaleidoscope.  Death related, and non-death related grief and loss can also be experienced similarly and uniquely as an individual, as a family and as a community.  Understanding how to adjust to the many faces of grief and loss is a critical point in healing through the experience.

Objectives:

At the end of the session the Learner will be able to:

-Identify grief, loss, bereavement, complicated grief

-Distinguish multiple facets of grief, including diagnosis nuances

-Recognize client strengths/internal resources for coping

                                -Utilize optimum healing methods

All First Friday Webinars are 1-hour long and receive 1 contact hour of continuing education credit. LPCANC is an NBCC-approved provider (ACEP) #5807.
