About the Program

LPCANC was responsible for the LPC-S concept and lobbied to create the LPC/LCMHC Supervisor credential. In 2009, LPCANC sought to advance the profession of counseling in North Carolina by drafting legislation and successfully lobbying for the LPC Act of 2009 legislation; thereby creating both the LPC-Associate license and the LPC-Supervisor license credentials.

If you have been an LPC/LCMHC for over five years, you may wish to consider additional training to help advance your career and open up new opportunities. The NCBLPC requirement to apply for the LPCS/LCMHCS is at least 5 years of full-time licensed professional counseling experience with 2,500 direct client contact hours. This includes counseling hours as an LPCA/LCMHCA and LPC/LCMHC. To participate in this class, you should have minimum 4-years of counseling experience, so you are within 1 year of meeting this requirement.

While many supervisor training opportunities exist, most training is online. By utilizing in-person experiential training, LPCANC’s 45-hour Training provides direct training that encourages deeper and more meaningful training by actively learning and engaging in the process of supervision. Provides more learning engagement opportunities with peers and instructors. Opportunities for immediate feedback during knowledge and skill acquisition and affords a better flow of discussion. Ease of communication, expression of ideas & greater range of opinions

All sessions require at least 10 registrants 20 days before the start date for the workshop. Help guarantee your class to be a success by enrolling with a friend or colleague.

Training Content

The Mirror-in-the Mirror training is unique: it’s IN-PERSON, LIVE & FACE-TO-FACE clinical supervisor preparatory experiential training well worth the cost! The workshop offers in-depth coverage of feedback delivery, supervision models, intentionality, ethical and legal implications, multicultural/diversity issues, goal setting, supervision methods and techniques, assessment, the contrast between the group and individual supervision, self-assessment, group process, termination and thorough supervised practice of supervision skills.

The Mirror-in-the Mirror training is a 45-hour experiential training designed to ensure participants undergo hands-on learning through the actual process of giving and receiving clinical supervision. During this process, highly trained and experienced clinical supervisors/trainers will provide direct feedback, guidance and support. The group will experience the actual supervision of self and others and also engage in meaningful group discussion and input.
