If you are looking for ideas for your submission, suggested presentation categories are as follows:

Presenter Requirements:

·         The primary presenter must be an LPCANC member in good standing

·         The primary presenter is the contact person and is responsible for notifying all other presenters of acceptance, scheduling, and any other information provided by LPCANC 

·         A presenter (primary or co-presenter) may be listed on no more than two accepted Conference sessions

·         Presenters must be available to present any time during the conference (October 24 - 26, 2019)

·         Presenters, once accepted, must submit all documentation by stated deadlines

·         All presenters must register for conference by August 01, 2019

 

 

Presentation Frequently Asked Questions

How many times will I present my presentation?

Each Session is presented one time during the Conference.

How much time will I have to present?

Thursday 10/24- Pre-conference sessions are 3 hours each.

Friday 10/25 and Saturday 10/26- Sessions are 1.5 hours each.

*We may allow well-developed trainings to utilize two concurrent sessions

Will I be able to choose the day/time that I present?

No, presenters must be available to present any time during the conference. Presentations are scheduled based on several factors including length and subject.

Tips:

·         Attendees have many programs to select from and often choose those that have well written descriptions

·         Attendees desire brief reviews of research that support the concepts presented

·         Prepare your proposal in a word document, and use the grammar/spell check before copying and pasting into the online form.

·         Upon submission, adhere to the word count, incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.

·         LPCANC is seeking advanced presentations that provide in-depth knowledge or skills beyond the introductory or basic level

·         Save and print a copy of your submission for your reference and records

 

 

How will my proposal be reviewed?

·         Proposals are blind reviewed

·         A committee of professional counselors will review proposals

·         Proposals will be rated using the following rubric and criteria

Scoring Rubric:

1 = Poor, 2 = Average, 3 = Strong

Proposal Review Criteria

  1. Relevance to needs and goals of the counseling profession

  2. Relevance to conference theme: Counseling & Integrative Medicine: Enhancing Outcomes Through Collaborative Care

  3. Innovative and cutting edge or proven and effective evidence-based practices

  4. Organization and clarity

  5. Clearly stated and appropriate learning objectives

  6. Well-developed presentation to assure accomplishment of learning objectives

  7. Consideration of  Diversity and Ethics

  8. Substantive content to be covered in presentation

  9. Qualification and expertise of the presenter(s) in relationship to the topic



Your submission will go to the PDC and Conference Chairs, who will review your proposal to assure it meets the NBCC guidelines for content and presenter qualifications.

If you are submitting a proposal for the Annual Conference, only Thursday offers continuous 3-hour sessions. On Friday and Saturday, sessions are scheduled in 1.5 hour time blocks. If your session is 3-hours, parts 1 and 2 will have a 30-minute break separating them, and attendees may choose both sessions, or only one part. If you do not want your session split, request to present on Thursday only, or submit your proposal for a Regional Conference, which offers 3-hour sessions in the morning and afternoon.
